P35 Edible Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera)

The edible date palm was a prominent plant in ancient times. It was the largest native tree in Egypt as no forest or timber trees grew in the rainless regions. It was a very valuable source of food and provided welcome shade for travelers. This is another fertility and lust/sexual potency plant. However, rather than eating the dates to overcome impotence, a man with this problem should carry the pits from the fruit. Women should eat dates to increase their fertility. Palms are also grown to protect the home and garden from bad weather and keep evil out of the home. This palm is grown commercially throughout the Middle East for its delicious and abundant fruit. It can be easily grown indoors. Outside, it will grow to a height of 100 ft. with a 12" trunk that is coverer with attractive leaf scars. The leaves are feather shaped with a beautiful gray-green coloration and they form a magnificent crown. The female trees bear large bunches of dates and each bunch can weight from 20-25 pounds.
