Oak (Quercus spp.)

This tree is one of the oldest pagan plants. Druids would not meet unless there was an oak tree in the area of the ritual, witches were said to dance beneath it's boughs, and religious icons were often carved from the wood of the oak. Various parts of the tree (including the fruits) are used in rituals for protection, health, money, healing, potency, fertility, and luck.

Oak trees are beautiful, fast growing trees that are unequaled for their use as ornamental, shade and lumber trees. Many can be raised in containers for patios and balconies. They thrive in almost any type of soil and are maintenance free. However, the seeds (acorns) are viable for only a short period of time and must be shipped fresh in the fall and winter as they arrive to us. They can only be ordered between October 1st -January 30th. They can not be put on back order. The page for these seeds will be linked to this page in August of 1999 to allow you to make your choices well in advance of the ordering dates.

It bears the olive of commerce that reach around 1" and are filled with oil. The tree is useful in desert gardens and in poor soil, but is also attractive as street, lawn and specimen trees, giving the area a Mediterranean effect. 5 seeds $2.50

It was olive oil that was used in lamps in ancient times to light temples. As with capers, olives can be eaten to increase a man's potency and are also eaten by women to increase their fertility. The fruit, leaves and the oil can be used in fertility rituals, as well as in healing, protection and peace rituals.
