HR195 Sage (Salvia officinalis)

What could be a better use for a plant called Sage than to use it in spells requesting wisdom. It is also used in protection rituals and spells to make wishes come true. Every garden should have a little sage. It is an aromatic, perennial evergreen which grows 2-3' tall. It has woolly, grey-green leaves and violet-blue flowers in whorls at the ends of stems and branches. It is used as a food seasoning and for its medicinal values. In the garden, it should be planted next to cabbage to improve the taste of the plant and repel cabbage worms and moths. The fresh or dried leaves can also be used to flavor pork, poultry, dressings, sausages and just about anything! 100 seeds $1.75

FL365 Pure White Sage (Salvia apiana)

This plant grows 10-12" tall with dark green foliage and pure white flowers. It is very unusual and very early flowering. 20 seeds $1.95

2229C Blue Sage (Salvia farinacea)

A marvelous specimen. Has densely congested violet-blue flowers concentrated in whorls about a square stem. Drought tolerant and likes sandy soil. 15 seeds $1.75

H135 Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea)

This is a wonderfully attractive plant for the flower garden. It has a distinctive square stem with large oval velvety leaves and white, pale blue or lilac fragrant flowers that have pink or lilac bracts. It is used as a fixitive in perfumes, adding a lavender scent and has also been used as a potpourri fixative. The seeds soaked in water will produce a mucilaginous eye bath that will safely remove particles and is also used to draw splinters from the skin. 5 seeds $1.95

H848 St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum)

This is a magickal plant from ancient times with the magickal uses often being better known than its medicinal uses. The fragrance caused evil spirits to fly away from the ancient Greeks. The Christians named it for St. John as it bloomed on his day (June 24) and Christian priests continued with using the herb for exorcisms, following pagan traditions. Today, the plant continues to be used in magickal rituals and blends for health, protection, strength, love divination and happiness purposes. St. John's Wort is a beautiful, erect, herbaceous perennial growing 1-3' tall in almost any type soil. It has bright yellow, cheerful flowers with 5 distinct petals which often have black dots on the margins. They bloom from June to September. 10 seeds $2.50

It has a rough gray bark, bright green alternate leaves and greenish-yellow flowers appearing before the leaves and followed by pea-sized fruits. This is a perennial shrub growing to about 20" tall. It has smooth, leathery leaves bordered with fine hairs. They are aromatic and have a hot, bitter taste. The flowers are pink to white on leafy, terminal spokes. 50 seeds $1.75

HE652 - Summer Savory (Satureja hortensis) - Cut/Powdered - $3.00/ounce

Scott Cunningham says that it is Summer Savory that is used in magick, however, Mama has found that Winter Savory works just as well. It is not a commonyly used herb, but is put into some blends to clear and increase mental powers.

This native plant of North America is a perennial which grows to about 3'. It is very easy to grow and bears loads of beautiful, small, tubular, blue, pinkish, violet or white flowers which have 2 lips and the upper ones are hooded. It is an important Chinese medicine that is prescribed for fevers, colds, hypertension, insomnia, headaches, hepatitis, diphtheria, shingles and more. This deciduous tree grows from 50-80' tall. The bark is rough and thick and dark brown to reddish-brown. The leaves are rough above and hair underneath. The flower buds are dark brown with orange tips ad they open into small flowers in inconspicuous clusters at the tops of the branches. The inner bark has mucilaginous properties that sooth mucous membranes and are also make a soothing and softening cream, lotion or ointment. The salve can be used for everything from chapped lips to burns and wounds. Magickally, it us mainly used to stop people from gossiping about you. In addition to the medicinal and magickal uses, the tree also makes an attractive lawn tree. 15 seeds $1.95

A very sweet, minty flavor. Use to flavor candies, iced drinks and tea. 50 seeds $1.75

This is a vigorous climbing vine that bears a profusion of flowers in shades of rose, white and pink. It is an excellent plant for covering walls, fences, mailboxes, etc. Sweet Peas are not often thought of as magickal plants, however they can be used in virtually any friendship, courage, chastity or strength rituals - either by adding dried flowers to the blend, or by placing cut flowers on the altar. 10 seeds $1.85
