H880 Valerian (Valeriana officinalis)

This beautiful garden plant is also known as Garden Heliotrope but should not be confused with the heliotropes from the borage family. Valerian is a perennial, growing to about 5' tall with leaves divided into 5-12 pairs of leaflets and tiny, sweet-scented, white to pale-pink flowers. It has medicinal qualities used to relieve pain, nervous conditions, migraines, and insomnia. The roots of the plant are ground and used as medicinal preparations. In magick, Valerian is used in love, sleep, purification and protection rituals and formulae. It can also be substituted for "graveyard dust" in recipes that call for this ingredient. 10 seeds $2.00

HE680 - Valerian Root/All Heal Root (Valeriana officinalis) - Cut/Powdered - $5.00/ounce

HE681 - Vanilla Beans (Vanilla aromatica) - Whole - $24.00/ounce

Vanilla can be substituted for either Deer's Tongue or for Tonka beans. It is much safer to use than Tonka beans, and easier to obtain (although they are rather expensive) than Deer's Tongue. Many recipes will call for Vanilla extract and this should either be one with no additives (check the labels at the store) or an extract that you have made yourself. Vanilla can be used in love, lust and rituals to increase mental powers.

H882 Vervain (Verbena offinalis)

Although the plant is not exceptional in appearance and is not considered a rarity, it was long held in awe. The Romans used it in purification of temples and privae homes and also used it medicinally. It was an ingredient in medieval witches' love potions and used as a charm against their evil spells. It made it into Christian lore as the plant that served to staunch Christ's wounds on Calvary. It is a perennial that grows only 1-2' tall with beautiful lilac flowers. It is a wonderful accent in any garden, however, it does have a very long germination period. Vervain is used for a number of different magickal goals, and that by itself gives one good reason to grow this plant. It can be used in love, protection, purification, peace, money, youth, chastity, sleep and healing rituals and formulae. 10 seeds $1.95

HE90 - Blue Vervain/Verbena/Van Van Herb (Verbena officinalis) - Cut/Powdered - $3.50.ounce

HE687 - Vetivert Root/Khus-Khus (Andropogon muricatus) - Cut/Powdered - $4.00/ounce

Vetivert is an excellent herb for hex-breaking, love, luck, money and anti-theft blends.

HR254 Sweet Violet (Viola odorata)

This is one of the loveliest plants. Origially native to Europe, Asia and North Africa, it is now naturalized throughout much of North America. It is a creeping perennial with heart-shaped leaves and sweetly scented solitary bluish-purple blossoms. Ancient Greeks believed they moderated anger and cured insomnia. Today, they are used in protection, love, luck, lust, peace and healing blends, as well as those blends to grant wishes. The Roman naturalist, Pliny, used it to cure gout. The Celts used the flowers with goat's milk as a cosmetic. It was also used in old England as a mild laxative for children. However, in modern times, it has been used as a colouring agent and as a fragrance in perfumes and it can also be used to flavor teas and salads and to color jellies and punches. The flowers are a very fragrant addition to your garden - but make sure if you do not want them to spread that you plant them in containers. 50 seeds $1.75

HE91 - Blue Sweet Violet Flowers (Viola odorata) - Whole/Powdered - $9.00/ounce
